"Helping someone in danger is just instinct. I would do the same again." That was Zhuo Min's simple response when recalling the unexpected rescue on a stormy night.

According to a report by Xiaoxiang Morning Herald, the incident occurred on the evening of May 8, 2025, when a sudden downpour hit Wuhan. On the rain-slick road, a 70-year-old man fell from his electric bike and briefly lost consciousness. Passing by near Huanhu Middle Road, Min immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and rushed to help.

At the time, Min was a master's student at Wuhan Polytechnic University and a certified Red Cross first aider. Upon reaching the injured man, he found him disoriented and with unclear injuries. Together with three fellow students, he moved the man to a safe area and began administering first aid.

Although the elderly man initially refused medical treatment—concerned about the cost and not wanting to burden his family—Min and the others patiently persuaded him to seek help. Eventually, they convinced him to contact his family and go to the hospital. After ensuring he was safe, they quietly left without giving their names, identifying themselves only as students from Wuhan Polytechnic University.

Weeks later, on June 19, the university received a public notice from the man's family seeking to find the rescuers. After an internal investigation, all four individuals were identified on June 25. On July 9, accompanied by university staff and local media, Min and his peers visited the man at his home. Doctors later confirmed that his injuries were severe, including a fractured clavicle, six broken ribs, lung contusion, and multiple soft tissue injuries. Without their timely intervention, the outcome could have been far worse.

On July 22, 2025, Min and the three others were officially recognized as "Good Samaritans"by the Dongxihu District authorities in Wuhan. The story has since been widely covered by major media outlets, drawing strong public praise.

Now graduated, Min has joined Goldcard. In addition to his academic and volunteer achievements, he is also a prolific writer, with over 100 published articles in outlets such as China Youth Daily. His work has appeared in overseas Chinese-language media, and he is a member of several professional writing associations. In 2024, he was recognized as an outstanding writer by the Shangcheng District Writers Association in Hangzhou.

"Never underestimate even the smallest act of kindness—that's what my parents always taught me," Min said.
